The Veranda Cottage

Create a work/live house on the site of the Audobon historic site in Key West, FL. The cottage is located on the corner of the lot facing Green Street. The location allows for public exposure to the gallery along with serving as a transition space between the commercial street and the residential lot. The cottage is a mixture of both public and private spaces The public spaces open up to Green Street inviting people into the gallery. The private spaces are set towards the rear of the cottage facing the lush garden which surrounds the site. The architecture integrates the traditional architecture of Key West and the Audobon house. The cottage compliments the Audobon house by inviting people in and serving as a gallery for the historic site.
