Venezia

This research assignment involved developing a collection of analytical architecture drawings of typical urban Venetian elements, serving as instruments for acquiring specific urban and architectural knowledge concerning the urban experience of Venezia. Analysis included
a cross-section of urban subjects, providing an overall understanding of the compositional and dimensional characteristics of the City of Venice, encompassing pavements, windows, doors, roofs, monuments, homes,
public and domestic elements, urban and private spaces. The research assignment introduced a method to apprehend the architecture and urban characteristics of cities and places to better prepare ourselves to perform in diverse urban environments, with confidence in this approach assisting us in developing projects that are both of the place and the world. Furthermore, we emphasized that architecture research was the first step of the design process, with the research findings of the class
forming the foundation upon which our vision plan for a new Venetian neighborhood would develop. Venice with its
unique exercise in repetition and singularity, measure and circumstance, memory and invention, provided an unparalleled opportunity to fuel our architectural imagination and build upon the architecture of our project
with the kind of freedom that only Venezia could provide.
